The Sum of Mercy

The Sum of Mercy

painting by Homer Watson, Kitchener artist

Couldn't calculate
No not the slightest chance
The attributes of mercy
The sum of God's romance.
It bore with mass rebellion
Though Jews had heard His Law
And mighty their deliverance
The record filled with awe.
Then years of waiting
Desperate
Messiah in their dreams
Until a star long birthed afar
Stopped o'er a manger scene.
And here the One anointed
Yes here the One to show
The depths of Father's loving heart
And more, as He would grow.
The hungry hung upon His words
The lonely felt His care
The sinful knew He held the clue
And New Life rich to share.
The Cross, the jeers, the Empty Tomb
He paid it all, so brave.
A loving God looked past our mess
And by His Son would save.
